       BANGOR -- Kyle Stilphen walked to the plate in the bottom of the fifth inning with the bases loaded and a state championship that had alluded the Gardiner Area High School baseball team since 1947 suddenly felt inevitable.
With one swing of the bat, Stilphen delivered that title, ripping a single up the middle to score Chris Howe and Mike Lavallee in a 10-0 rout of Cape Elizabeth in the Class B state championship game Saturday at Mansfield Stadium in Bangor.
For the third consecutive tournament game, the Tigers invoked the 10-run mercy rule before the seventh inning.
"I just wanted to get it over with and celebrate," said Stilphen, who went 3 for 4 with four RBIs.
